About Ready to Pray and how to use it
Last updated
Ready to Pray is a prayer-times website built around a simple task: checking the next prayer without losing sight of the settings behind its time.
Start with your location
Use the location button at the top of the prayer-times page to choose a city or optionally share your current location. London is the starting location for a new browser. The location you select stays in that browser; there is no account or cloud sync.
Check your calculation settings
Open Settings to select your calculation method, Asr convention, clock format, high-latitude handling and any minute adjustments. The selected method and time zone are shown with your timetable. Read how the calculations work before matching a mosque timetable.
See the month or use your calendar
Open Prayer calendar to view another month. You can export a month as an ICS calendar file. The file contains prayer start times based on the city and adjustments selected when you export it; it will not update itself if those settings later change.
Reminders: what works today
For each prayer, choose a reminder beforehand, an alert at prayer time, or both. Set the early reminder to Off if you only want the at-time alert. The prayer-level switch turns off both reminders, and the selected chime or quiet style applies to both. Your previous single-alert settings are kept until you change them. Website reminders currently need the page to stay active. Browser sleep, operating-system settings and notification permission can delay or prevent alerts.
Closed-page push, released Android and iOS apps, reliable phone-to-watch notification delivery and native widgets are still in development. There is no public app-store download to install yet. The phone/watch test records your observation of delivery; it cannot inspect a paired watch.
Offline use and phone installation
After the website has loaded and its offline files are cached, prayer times and future months calculate without a prayer-time API connection. Open it once while online before depending on offline access. Searching for a new city still needs the internet.
On iPhone, use Safari’s Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, look for Install app or Add to Home screen in your browser menu. Installation options depend on the browser. Installing the website does not enable closed-page reminders by itself.
Qibla on a phone
The Qibla tab shows a bearing from the selected location to the Kaaba. If your phone supports direction sensors, you can choose to allow the compass. Keep the phone flat and away from magnetic interference. If a direction sensor is unavailable, use the true-north bearing with a trusted compass.
Other tools
Ramadan shows Fajr and Maghrib with optional confirmed dates. Travel settings let you review a new location.
Dhikr counts the common phrases of remembrance, or any dhikr of your own, with a target for each. Its After prayer tab guides the tasbih after salah and has duas with links to their narration sources.
The 99 Names of Allah gives you one name each day, in order, with its meaning. You can mark the names you know, search them, and practise them.
A product that can be checked
Ready to Pray makes calculation settings and reminder limitations visible. It does not claim endorsement by a mosque or scholar, and its after-prayer texts are linked to their sources. This page will be updated as functionality is released.
